Obituary for Florence Irene Stoops (Hevel)

Florence I. Stoops, 93, of Harrisburg, formerly of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at home. She was the widow of Walter O. Stoops.
Florence was born on November 21, 1923 in Struthers, OH and was the daughter of the late Earl and Catherine (Cain) Hevel.
Florence was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Middletown. She loved playing bingo and vacationing at the beach. Florence’s greatest joy in life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Florence is survived by her daughters, Donna, wife of George Elberti, of Middletown, Bonnie, wife of Joseph Ritchey, of Annville and Connie, wife of William Kleinfelter, of Estero, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tony and Brent Elberti, Mark Ritchey, Lauren Northup, Julia Cin, Kristi Phillips and Kelly Kleinfelter and 9 great grandchildren, Avyanna, Nola, T.J., Mikayla, Peyton, Alex, Maria, Andrew and Teddy and her sister, Betty Leo, of Harrisburg.
In addition to her husband and parents, Florence was preceded in death by her siblings, Anna Jane Buser, Bertha Mae Becker and Earl Hevel, Jr.
A tribute to Florence’s life will be held on Friday, March 24th, 2017 at 2:00 PM in St. Peter’s Lutheran Evangelical Church at 121 North Spring Street, Middletown, PA with Rev. Dr. Richard Eckert officiating. Viewing will be from 1 PM until 2 PM on Friday in the Church. Burial will be in the Middletown Cemetery, Middletown.
The Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. at 260 East Main Street, Middletown, PA has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorable contributions can be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 121 North Spring Street, Middletown, PA 17057. The Stoops family would like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice, especially Rhonda, Christy and Carole; and caregiver, Nana, from Elders-Choice, Inc. and all of her friends and the wonderful staff of Kindred Place, Harrisburg.
