Obituary for Richard J. Bauer

Richard J. Bauer,87, formerly of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Frey Village Nursing Center, Middletown.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 12, 1930 and was the son of the late Milton E. and Florence (Hobaugh) Bauer.
Richard was a retired Human Resources employee at Harrisburg Housing Authority.
He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War.
Richard was an avid reader and enjoyed the Harrisburg Senators, Hershey Bears hockey as well as the Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers, and Pirates sports teams.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan M. (Narbetski) Bauer.
He is survived by his four loving children, Linda M. Collins and her husband John of Cohasset, MA, Steve E. Bauer of Etters, Sue Ann Zarefoss of Hershey, and James R. Bauer and his wife Teresa of Mechanicsburg; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A tribute to Richard’s life will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 7:00 PM at the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Middletown with the Rev. Britt Strohecker officiating. Viewing will be from 6:00 PM until the time of services, Monday at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville PA.
